There’s so much being written about when it comes to hoodia gordonii that it has been elevated to a dimension above mere supplements or drugs to a position of a magical cure. What hoodia does is to suppress the hunger pangs you feel and if you don’t feel hungry, you don’t eat and then you lose weight. What hoodia should perhaps be is not an all-in-all weight reducer. It should be a part of the dieting mix and then maybe while you don’t go overboard with it, there will be a balanced approach to the product.

When it is added to a regimen that you follow in order to lose weight, hoodia could be a good addition because it triggers off or completes your weight loss program. In most weight loss programs, you exercise, you eat right and you follow a schedule. If hoodia were to be added, there would be one great advantage – you won’t have the urge to snack frequently and therefore the weight loss would be much more. What you will have to take care of is to forcibly make yourself drink water so that you do not get dehydrated – this is very essential if you are exercising.

While there have been a few studies conducted, there is not enough known about hoodia to make it the sole factor in a weight loss program. If you make it as just one of the factors, you will also be making it less possible to suffer from side effects if any. Many herbs and plants do have side effects – it isn’t as though everything in Nature is without side effects. This becomes even more prominent when there is an extraction of the active ingredient. One has no idea how it could affect the various organs of the body over time and regular use.

Dieting has to be a concerted effort and there will have to be a judicious mix of eating less and exercising. This just makes it a lot more effective with weight loss. When you add hoodia and you suppress your hunger, it just quickens the weight loss and you reach your targets faster. It would be a mistake perhaps to add hoodia to any exercise regimen that is prescribed for people who have a health problem or are recovering from one. One does not know yet the exact way that hoodia could react in these circumstances or indeed whether it will react with any of the medicines that the person is taking. One really has to be a bit careful before deciding on whether to take hoodia or not – it would all depend on how desperate you are to lose weight.
