If you type the word “hoodia” in your search engine, in less than 0.13 seconds, you will find over 6 million entries! Thousands of these are websites selling hoodia products in some form or another, giving you very impressive information and making it easy to buy hoodia right away.
What you need to know is this. Alkemist Pharmaceuticals tested hundreds of these products (sent to them willingly) and discovered that 80% of them were selling fake Hoodia – and we are only talking about the samples sent to them…what about the hundreds of untested samples?
So how do you discern the fake hoodia from the pure hoodia?
1. There are many varieties of hoodia growing all over Africa, but only pure hoodia gordonii, which grows only in Southern Africa, will suppress your appetite. The inner flesh or core of hoodia gordonii contains an active ingredient (named P57, by the scientists who discovered it) that mimics glucose and fools your brain into thinking you are full, when you have not eaten anything. So any product that says it contains hoodia (without specifying further) is most likely selling one of the other hoodias – and those hoodias have no effect on appetite at all.
2. The active ingredient of hoodia gordonii, P57, is found only in the inner flesh of the plant. Some manufacturers are unfortunately using the entire plant in their product. That is, they are including the outer spiny skin, leaves, stems and roots. These other parts of hoodia gordonii contain no P57, and have no effect on the appetite. The product then may prove to be hoodia gordonii when analyzed, but it will only be 60% effective. When buying hoodia gordonii, make sure the pure hoodia capsule contains only the core of the plant – it should have a high P57 count.
3. Another thing that manufacturers are doing, is adding other ingredients to hoodia gordonii. These other ingredients do nothing to induce appetite suppression and on the contrary, like point 2 above, they lessen the amount of hoodia gordonii in the product, making it less effective. Also, no research has been done on hoodia gordonii being ingested with other substances, so possibly this may not be very safe to do. The only other substance that you should see on the ingredient list of your hoodia gordonii is gelatin – the gelatin that is used to make the capsule.
One company that has not only followed the above rules, but has the certificates to prove it is UniqueHoodia. UniqueHoodia uses pure hoodia gordonii imported from South Africa with a CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) certificate to prove it. UniqueHoodia also has an Organics Annex Certificate, which proves their product is organic and sent to them directly from farmers in South Africa.
Their product has been tested, analyzed and passed by Alkemist Pharmaceuticals, again with certificates to prove it. If you want to try out pure and safe 100% real hoodia gordonii, UniqueHoodia is the product for you.
